Dear Community Partner,
We are excited to reach out to you with a unique one-time sponsorship opportunity for Coastal Hampton Roads Volleyball Club, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization proudly serving the Peninsula and the surrounding region through volleyball education, training development, and competitive play.
Coastal Hampton Roads Volleyball Club (CHRVC) is the premier volleyball club on the Peninsula, committed to keeping the thrill of volleyball alive and thriving for young people in our community. We serve several hundred boys and girls each year from across Hampton Roads and as far away as Richmond. Our current season has experienced players participating with our highly competitive national, regional, and state travel teams, and traveling across Virginia, as well as up and down the Eastern seaboard as far north as Pittsburgh and south to Orlando. In addition, we are currently serving beginner players through our seasonal Grassroots Program, which educates and develops less-experienced players in volleyball fundamentals and skills, preparing interested youth for future competitive play. We also facilitate a summer beach volleyball program, keeping youth active and engaged through the summer months.
As is often the case for community sports programs, our organization has struggled over the years to secure adequate, reliable space in which our teams can train consistently. Since 2002, CHRVC has held practices in a variety of rented school gyms and YMCAs. This has presented challenges, as it has required rescheduling and cancelling practices based on the host facilities’ needs. In addition, our various programs take place at different locations, since no single facility has been able to accommodate the entirety of our programming. This problem has been further exacerbated by the COVID crisis, as many facilities are closing their spaces to outside groups. In the 2020 fall season alone, we lost two practice locations due to the tightening restrictions. Our remaining school gym space is not guaranteed, and any additional closures will force fewer practices and cancellation of some of our programs altogether.
In these uncertain times - more than ever - our region’s youth need the Coastal Hampton Roads Volleyball Club. Physical activity through active sports engagement is proven to improve physical, mental and emotional health. Furthermore, volleyball creates community and connection, which our young people need. We are dedicated to the cause of developing our youth through volleyball, and we are proving through our stringent and consistent COVID-safety procedures that we can maintain volleyball programming in a safe and responsible way. Because of our commitment to serve in this way, we have sought out our own facility, and we are excited to announce that we have secured a location at the former Rebounderz building on Patrick Henry Drive in Newport News! The new Coastal Hampton Roads Sportsplex, with a planned opening of January 2021, will be a multi-use facility which will allow numerous different sports to compete at a higher level. For us, this means all CHRVC teams to practice under one roof, and will enable us to hold camps, open gyms, tournaments, and skills clinics, too! This facility will provide stability for the hundreds of young people we currently serve, and it will allow the growth and opportunity needed to serve even more of our region’s youth.
We need your help! The additional fees required for the inaugural year in the facility exceed the club’s available budget. To fill this gap, we are seeking support from the community we serve. This one-time, inaugural season opportunity features a “Donor Recognition Wall,” highlighting the generous support of community members committed to our cause. We would like you to be among our supporters recognized in this meaningful way. Our Donor Recognition Wall will be a lasting tribute, proudly displayed in our new facility as a special way to honor and thank our community, family, and friends for your support.
Would you please consider being an inaugural sponsor of Coastal Hampton Roads Volleyball Club in our new facility?
